Terms of use
Plain terms for a free tool. The important part is what a result does and does not prove.
The one thing to read
A finding is a fact about the bytes: a specific code point or metadata field is present. The absence of a finding is not proof that content is human-written, or free of a watermark. No tool that runs outside the model provider can prove that. This applies equally to Google’s SynthID Detector, whose own documentation says a negative result does not rule out AI generation.
Using the tool
You may use this site free of charge, for any lawful purpose, without registering.
What a result means
- A reported finding means the file or text contains the code point or metadata field named in the result. It does not, by itself, say who put it there or why. A zero-width character can be an accident of copy-paste, a formatting artefact, or a deliberate mark.
- No finding means this tool did not detect the patterns it looks for. It does not mean the content is unwatermarked. Statistical watermarks are invisible to this tool. For images, video and audio, check the provider’s own detector as well — see the SynthID page.
- Image results depend on the manifest still being present. A file whose C2PA or EXIF data was stripped will look clean here, and that tells you nothing about how it was made.
No warranty
The tool is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Detection may produce false positives and false negatives. Unicode assignments and file formats change over time, and this tool may lag behind those changes.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the operator of this site is not liable for any loss arising from use of the tool or from reliance on a result, including decisions made about authorship, authenticity, employment, publication, academic integrity or legal compliance.
Do not use a result as proof
A result from this tool is not evidence on its own. If a decision matters — a legal matter, a publication, an academic integrity process, an employment decision — verify it independently, against the original file and, where relevant, the model provider’s own tooling.
Acceptable use
Do not use this tool to remove provenance information from content in order to deceive anyone about where that content came from. Do not present a result from this tool as proof of authorship in any proceeding.

These terms may change. The date at the top of this page changes with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
